Jnanendra Barman, an assistant professor at Cotton University, speaking at a Ram Navami event, delivered an anti-Muslim speech. He claimed that “jihadi Islamic ideology” instructs its followers to attack “kafirs” who do not believe in Allah. He alleged that “jihadi” terrorists have been caught in various places, including Chirang district, and accused them of planning to destabilise Assam and turn it into “Islamistan.” He asserted that this “demonic” force of “Bangladeshi Miyas” must be defeated. He also called for an economic boycott of Muslims, urging people not to buy from their businesses or sell land to them. He fearmongered the Muslim population, alleging that lakhs of bighas of land had been encroached upon by “Bangladeshi Miyas,” and peddled the conspiracy theory of “love jihad.”
