In Cooch Behar, Amit Shah Pledges Nationwide Expulsion of ‘Infiltrators’

Location: Cooch Behar, West Bengal

Key themes from Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s campaign speech: “Should North Bengal be ‘ghuspaithiya-mukt’ (free of infiltrators) or not? ‘Ghuspaithiya’ (infiltrators) have been given free rein, but on the 5th, when BJP forms a government, we will identify and expel each one of them. The BJP is already in power in Tripura, Assam, and Bihar, and if it comes to power in Bengal too, we will seal the entire border so strictly that not even a bird can cross. Mamata Banerjee has not provided the 600 acres of land required by the BSF for border fencing, but once a BJP Chief Minister is in place, we will provide the land within 45 days and complete the fencing. It is not just about fencing, those who have entered have so far only been removed from the voter list by the Election Commission; they will be removed from India’s soil as well. Bengal’s budget is around four lakh crore rupees, with 5,700 crore allocated for Muslims and only about 1,200 crore for all of North Bengal. Should four marriages be stopped or not? You all know who does this. Once the BJP forms the government, we will bring the Uniform Civil Code and end the practice. ‘Love jihad’ and ‘land jihad’ will be strictly stopped. A Ram temple now stands where the Babri Masjid once stood, but Mamata Banerjee and Humayun Kabir want to build a Babri Masjid in Bengal. Mamata Banerjee, listen, Bengal is a part of India, and we will not allow such a structure to be built here. We have eliminated terrorism and Naxalism in this country, and I say this clearly, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Dwarka to Ganga Sagar, the BJP will expel each and every ‘ghuspaithiya’ (infiltrator).”
