In Dehradun, Kali Sena Distributes Swords at Screening While Promoting ‘Love Jihad’ Conspiracy

Location: Balawala, Dehradun, Uttarakhand

Kali Sena, led by Bhupesh Joshi and Ajay Kaptan, distributed swords to attendees, including young girls, during a screening of the film “Kerala Story 2.” Bhupesh Joshi promoted the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad” and gave the slogan, “Be Kali, Be Durga; but never be the one in a Burqa.” He also questioned women on whether they “liked the fitting of the ‘mulla’ tailors,” alleging a larger conspiracy in which tailors share women’s contact details with mosque-linked groups where they are targeted. Naresh Uniyal, a VHP-Bajrang Dal leader, also promoted the conspiracy theory of “love jihad” claiming that Muslim men target women in educational institutions. He criticised Hindus for engaging with Muslim workers and businesses, alleged that Muslims have “necrophilic” tendencies, and criticised Hindus for referring to them as “bhaijaan” and renting homes to them. Ajay Kaptan claimed that Muslims engage in “al-taqiyya” by maintaining brotherhood only to take advantage of it.
