During a protest by Vishva Hindu Parishad–Bajrang Dal, VHP leader Surendra Gupta promoted the conspiracy theories of “love jihad” and religious conversion. He urged parents to monitor their children’s co-workers to prevent them from “falling into the trap of love jihad.” He claimed that Muslims consider everyone else “kaffirs” while calling for Hindu unity. He also issued a threat of violence against corporations such as Tata Consultancy Services, Mahindra Group, and Lenskart, warning that if they did not mend their ways, not a single glass would remain in their showrooms if they took to the streets.
