At a Hanuman Chalisa event, Hindu nationalist supporter Swatantra Bhardwaj issued warnings of violence against those he alleged were targeting Hindus, claimed that some Muslims pose as “good Muslims” to carry out what he called “fake jihad,” and urged attendees to either raise their voices or inform them, asserting that they would take up swords. Another speaker, Yudhistheer Rana, claimed that some people “spit on food” and asserted that there was no difference between a “pig” and those who eat such food. He also chanted slogans calling for a “Hindu Rashtra.” Another speaker invoked Pakistan and Bangladesh to urge attendees to gift “weapons” on birthdays. Khushbu Pandey cited religious texts to claim that violence is justified in the name of religion.
