Far-right monk Yati Narsinghanand Giri, speaking at a Hindu Sammelan organised by Sakal Hindu Samaj, claimed that Prophet Muhammad had destroyed Hindu temples in Arabia. He also peddled the conspiracy theory of “love jihad,” alleging that multiple such cases occurred under previous governments. He urged Hindus to apply for gun licences and described the UGC Act, aimed at preventing caste-based discrimination in educational institutes, as a conspiracy by Muslims and Arab countries, alleging that sex workers and money were used to influence Hindu writers, religious narrators, and influential Hindus by inviting them to Dubai. He also fearmongered over the Muslim population in the country.
