During a “Virat Sant Sammelan,” far-right monk Mahant Raju Das dogwhistled against Christians and Muslims as “Kalnemi,” alleging that those who follow Sanatan Dharma were falling into their trap. He claimed those born into Sanatan Dharma were “blessed,” while warning of an allegedly declining Hindu birth rates and urging Hindus to have more children. Citing an alleged Durga temple in Bangladesh, he claimed its land had been encroached on from all sides and that the priest had to bring the idol from his home to conduct worship. He further claimed that Hindus once comprised 70% of the population but had since declined and were now too fearful to speak out, urging Hindu unity against “dhongis” and “Kalnemi.”
