During Shrimad Bhagwat Katha, far-right monk Madhuram Sharan Shiva, leader of the armed monks’ group Shiva Shakti Akhada, alleged that Hindus are being harassed, humiliated, and beaten everywhere, claiming that in countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan, Hindus are “taking their last breath,” with most having been converted. He further alleged that even within India, there are nine states where Hindus are unable to organise religious events. He questioned the decline in the Hindu population, asking “where did the 90 percent go,” and blamed it on Hindus becoming “dhongi” (imposter), claiming they are “self-destructing” and morally declining. He alleged that Hindu culture and community are gradually being destroyed, attributing this to a focus on jobs and criticising Hindu mothers for prioritising English education for their children.
