In Haridwar, VHP Leader Glorifies Babri Demolition and Warns of ‘Jihadi’ Demography

Location: Haridwar, Uttarakhand

During a Virat Hindu Sammelan, VHP leader Ajay Kumar delivered a speech glorifying the demolition of the Babri Masjid, describing it as the removal of a “stain” on India’s history. He recalled 1990s slogans such as “Ek dhakka aur do, Babri dhacha tod do” (“Give one more push, demolish the Babri structure”) and “Tel laga lo Dabur ka, naam mitado Babur ka” (“Apply Dabur oil, erase Babur’s name”), contrasting them with a more aggressive modern slogan of “Tel lagayenge sarson ka, hisab karenge barson ka” (“We will apply mustard oil and settle scores of the past”) asserting that Hindus must unite to settle historical grievances and protect “Devbhoomi.” He framed Muslims and Christian missionaries as threats to Uttarakhand’s demographic composition, alleging that “jihadis” had disrupted demography by establishing businesses in the state and infiltrating multiple regions. He further claimed that Haridwar has a “35% jihadi population” and described other areas as hubs of drugs and illegal religious conversions, citing a incident in Purola where Muslim traders were reportedly driven out. He urged the younger generation to act now so they would not be blamed by their descendants for allowing cow slaughter, conversions, and “love jihad” to continue, referencing films such as The Kerala Story and The Kashmir Files.
