At a Vishva Adivasi Diwas event, IRS officer and Additional Commissioner of Income Tax (OSD) Nesha Oraon defended a signboard installed in Hati village barring pastors and others from entering the village to carry out religious conversions or hold healing prayer gatherings. She claimed Gram Sabhas had the right to install such boards under a Supreme Court ruling and urged other villages to put up similar restrictions. She announced plans for a campaign to “protect” Adivasi traditions and religion.
