At a ‘Ratri Chaupal,’ BJP MLA Sanjay Singh Gangwar derogatorily referred to Muslims as “Miya” and “jalidar topiwale” (skullcap-wearers). He alleged that Muslims take benefits from the governments of Narendra Modi and Yogi Adityanath but vote for Akhilesh Yadav, declaring that “if you vote for us, work will be done; if you do not vote for us, no one will pay attention to you.” Referring to the death of Surya Chauhan, he accused Akhilesh Yadav of only speaking for “jalidar topiwale” while seeking Hindu votes.
