During a Hindu Jan Akrosh Morcha organised by Sakal Hindu Samaj, Gopichand Padalkar, Bharatiya Janata Party MLA, led a protest demanding action against Muslims who had gathered for iftar, following the Bopdev Ghat assault incident.
At the same rally, Padalkar delivered an anti-Muslim hate speech, spread the conspiracy theories of “land jihad” and “love jihad,” demanded cases against the iftar participants, called for bulldozer action against Muslim properties, and threatened violence. Sanjay Jagtap alleged a “jihad land mafia,” justified the assault, and called for the removal of alleged encroachments.
