At an Akhand Bharat Sankalp Diwas organised by the Sakal Hindu Samaj, BJP MLA and Maharashtra cabinet minister Nitesh Rane called on supporters of a “Hindu Rashtra” to chant “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and sing “Vande Mataram,” while targeting Muslims who he claimed refused to do so. He referred to Muslims as “green snakes,” told those who would not chant the slogans to go to Pakistan, and called madrasas “hubs for jihad and terrorism.” He also spread the conspiracies of “love jihad” and “land jihad,” accused Muslims of trying to increase their population, and called for Muslims in Ratnagiri to be “sent to their fathers in Pakistan.” Rane further said he would rename Mumbra “Mumbra Devi” and made unverified claims about the killing of Dhiraj Pardeshi,suggesting retaliation against Muslims.
