The district administration demolished the Syed Hazrat Umar Farooq Mosque at around 3 a.m. following an order from an SDM court. The Gram Sabha had approached the tehsil court alleging that the mosque had been illegally constructed 12 years ago on land belonging to a public pond and a kabristan (graveyard).
