A burqa-clad Muslim woman in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, became an unwitting victim of online harassment after a video of her was secretly filmed and shared on Facebook by Muskan Singh, a local resident known for right-wing views.
Singh captioned the clip with the provocative question “Uda du kya” (Should I blow her up?), accompanied by a laughing emoji and “Jai Shri Ram.”
The woman, dressed in a burqa and niqab, remained completely unaware as Singh filmed her pointedly while a threatening song played in the background.
The track, popular in certain Hindutva circles, contains violent lyrics: “I am the king of the world… I will kill you… I will shoot everyone in your house and end the mischief.” Another segment carried the overlay text “Have you noticed anything, Jai Bhavani.”
Posted on Singh’s personal Facebook account, the video carried clear communal undertones, raising alarms over the normalization of Islamophobic rhetoric and hate speech on Indian social media.
Such incidents, where everyday Muslim citizens are targeted for their attire, highlight growing concerns about online incitement and the weaponization of religious symbols and songs to provoke division.
