Migrant Muslim Workers Face Verification Demands and Harassment in Punjab and Rajasthan.

By Muslim Mirror Desk

In two separate incidents, Muslim migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh faced harassment from local residents demanding police verification and identity proofs while working in their areas.

Ludhiana, Punjab Incident

A video that surfaced on social media on April 3 showed a local man aggressively confronting Irfan, a Muslim band player from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.

The man demanded to see Irfan’s Aadhaar card and questioned whether he had obtained police verification to operate in the colony.

“Irfan, show your Aadhaar. Where are you from? Have you done police verification for working here?” the man asked repeatedly, while filming the encounter.

Irfan, visibly uncomfortable, urged him to stop recording. The man warned Irfan against returning to play in the locality and said they would complain to the police if he did.

He clarified that they had not physically harmed him or damaged his instruments, only raised the verification issue.

Bhilwara, Rajasthan Incident

In Baishpada village of Bhilwara district, Salim, a resident of Fatehpur Sikri, Uttar Pradesh, and his associate were stopped by a local man wearing a religious mala.
