In Siddharthnagar, BJP Leader Promotes Hindu Nationalist Politics

Location: Domariaganj, Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh

During a BJP booth-level meeting, BJP leader Dharmraj Verma praised former MLA Raghvendra Pratap Singh for installing statues of Swami Vivekananda, B.R. Ambedkar, and Raja Agrasen at various intersections, claiming that otherwise Muslims use “mazars” and mosques to dominate the area’s landscape. He claimed that Hindu women’s “honour and dignity” and cows were previously under threat, but that no one now had the courage to “raise an eye” against Hindus. He claimed Domariaganj, once known as “mini Pakistan” and under the control of the Malik family, had been transformed by Singh and declared that “Jai Shri Ram” would now prevail there. Referring to a viral statement by Singh during the 2022 election, he recalled his claim that “skullcaps wearer and oolta pyjama-wale” would say “Jai Shree Ram” if he became MLA. He further claimed that Muslims in Domariaganj now had to hide their identity, alleging that where “dominance of those wearing skullcaps” once existed, those wearing a saffron scarf now received respect from police. He urged attendees to elect Singh in 2027 to “establish Hindutva” in Domariaganj, claiming that “miya” had already begun preparing for the election.
