Hindu nationalist singer Shahnaz Akhtar delivered a speech targeting Muslims, alleging they had pressured her to stop singing, observe “parda,” or else she would go to “jahannum.” She used derogatory slurs such as “malech” and “vidharmi,” and labelled Muslims as “traitors,” accusing them of living in India while raising slogans in support of Pakistan and Palestine, and asserting that such behaviour would not be tolerated.
She further mocked the practice of “parda,” stating that it is meant for those engaged in “prostitution,” not for her, and claimed she had left a religion that does not respect women. She peddled the anti-Muslim conspiracy theory of “love jihad,” warning women against Muslim men, referring to them as “Abdul,” and alleging they would end up in “70 pieces.” She further claimed that such men would force conversion, bring multiple wives, give divorce, and subject women to halala.
